Lillie Mae ”Sister” Rogers finished her race and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2022.
On December 2,1937 a beautiful baby girl was born to Finest and Neatie Bell Hubbard in Austin County, TX. She accepted Christ at an early age at Rocky Chapel Baptist Church in Brenham, TX.
Lillie attended Pickard High School in Brenham, TX where she excelled academically. She was known for being a talented basketball player as well. After completing high school, Lille finished cosmetology school and worked as a beautician.
On September 26, 1955 she united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Charles Allen Rogers. They were the first to venture out and relocate to the big city of Houston, TX. God blessed their union with two sons, Charles A. Rogers Jr and Michael D. Rogers.
Lillie worked for HISD for more than 35 years as a bus driver. She won multiple awards for her hard work and exemplary work ethic including more than 27 years being accident free and more than 35 years of dedicated service. Her students loved “Mrs. Lille” and would often stop by and visit as they grew older and continued on with their lives.
Lillie created a home for the family. Everyone was welcome to get a meal and stay if they needed. Lillie was respected for her homemaking and hosting skills. She loved having a good time, watching sports, playing games and laughing, especially with family. She also loved to travel and see different parts of the world.
Whether it be musical concerts, her amazing gardening skills, her exquisite taste in shopping or her love for gathering people and Christmas lights, Lillie enjoyed giving people joy. Over the years, she enjoyed seeing her children and grandchildren prosper and reach the highest heights.
