Obituary For Landrian De'mond Buckham
Landrian De’mond Buckham (Baba) was born on October 25, 1972 to Mattie and Donald Buckham. He was baptized at an early age by Bishop L.C. Graves of the 34th Street I.M.E. Church. He sang in the children’s choir, attended Sunday school, BTU, etc. He always loved the church-and people loved him also. As a child, he attended Shadydale and John F. Kennedy Elementary School graduating with all A’s.
Later we joined Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church-he had good spiritual guidance from Pat Reaux, Annie Driver, Galatha Crenshaw, and others. Pastor Driver and Pastor Cullens were great mentors to him. He later went to Jessie Jones Jr. Senior High School, he was in the Vanguard Program for gifted students. He really excelled in computer programming and graduated with honors. As an adult, Landrian attended Houston Community College and the University of Houston working toward his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He spoke Japanese and wrote Kanji and wanted to visit Japan to teach English to Japanese students. He loved martial arts, the community, discipline and culture. Over his lifetime he studied many techniques and developed many friendships. Baba was very ambitious and was writing a book about his life and adventures. Even though his health started to fail him, he never complained, but took life in stride. Now he has gone to live with our Lord and Savior, and now he is at peace in a brand new life and home.
